Overview

Plan to attend the 7th Joint Conference of the Maryland and Delaware Library Associations. The committees have worked hard to put together events and programs to educate and entertain you. Two state library associations with tons of committees, boards and advisory groups have worked together to make this year's conference extra special as we move to a new location. From pre-conferences to the closing of the gift basket auction, this year is full of diverse, eclectic, and fun programs that will rock your socks. Code of Conduct for All Individuals at MLA Events

The Maryland Library Association is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of event participant in any form, regardless of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, or religion. 

 

Individuals attending any MLA event are expected to behave in a professional manner. As professionals, there may be disagreements, however it is expected that participants will be kind and respectful of other attendees and their ideas. Harassment will not be tolerated. 

 

Harassing behaviors include posting sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

 

Participants asked to cease any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in harassing behavior, event organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the conference/event and banning from any conferences/events in the future.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the event staff immediately. Event staff will help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event.

 

The Code has been approved by the Executive Board on April 20, 2016.
